Fichtner supports the German Energy Efficiency Association for heat, cooling energy and cogeneration (AGFW) to develop methods and processes for improved consideration of energy efficiency in urban development planning processes. The project includes research on structures and dependencies of long-term forecast models for energy demand and feedback mechanism between urban development, distributed renewable energy sources and energy supply systems. The main focus is on the impact of expected changes in demographic parameters to urban development and energy supply systems. The project will help to manage environmental and demographic challenges with robust strategies resulting in optimized costs and high energy efficiency in all scenarios.
